Besides perfectly maintained material, the safety of a helicopter flight is above all a matter of pilot competence. The requirements of HeliService for the qualification and experience of its own pilots are accordingly high. A basic requirement for a HeliService pilot is that he or she meets all EU requirements for Helicopter Offshore Flight Operations (HOFO) and Helicopter Hoist Operations (HHO). In addition to these standards, all HeliService pilots receive regular intensification training on the aircraft itself, as well as in the state-of-the-art flight simulators to be prepared for any eventuality.
HeliService also sets standards in questions of the cockpit crew: All HeliService flights – including hoist operations flights – are always carried out by two equally qualified pilots.
During each flight, a sophisticated helicopter flight data monitoring system (HFDM) records all flight and measurement data. The findings from the subsequent analysis will be incorporated into operational flight operations in the form of monthly flight safety meetings and regular flight safety briefings.
