With our helicopters we primarily transport technical personnel to and from wind parks. However, at the same time our helicopters are the most capable tools to transport cargo from A to B. Our helicopters, the Leonardo AW169 and AW139, both can lift and transport rather heavy loads of up to 1.5 tons. Beyond the sheer ability to lift very heavy loads, the handling of a load is the key advantage when using a helicopter. With the hoist, each of our helicopters can lift loads of up to 270 kg from the ground directly into the cabin. A hoist operator, in corporation with someone handling the load on the ground, can manage a very smooth and safe load and unloading of the cargo. By that, loads can be placed directly onto a wind turbine generator.
Inside the cabin
The cargo is loaded directly into the cabin and unloaded from the cabin.
On the hoist / in the cabin lifted via the hoist
The hoist on the helicopter is used as a crane to lift and unload the cargo. The load can (for a short while) remain on the hoist; or the load is moved into the cabin.
Beneath the helicopter – underslung load
The load is held by a cargo hook beneath the helicopter.
